Description: Under the direction of the Port Huron Art Initiative event coordinator, the intern will assist on various projects in preparation of the Port Huron Sculpture Festival. The position is unpaid, but college credit is available upon school approval. This part-time internship will last from Feb. 13 through June 10, 2017. Most work can be done remotely, but must be available for some in-person meetings.

General responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the development of the event marketing strategy
  • Assisting with the writing, design and distribution of marketing materials, including flyers, a website and social media promotion
  • Assisting with securing sponsorships, bands and food vendors
  • Assisting with day-of operations of event
  • Leading the coordination of event volunteers
  • Intern will learn all of the behind-the-scenes work of running an event in addition to focusing on the marketing strategy and implementation


  • Current college student pursuing a communications or marketing degree
  • Good communication skills
  • Interest is arts sector
  • Graphic design and photography skills a bonus
  • Previous marketing and event planning volunteer or intern experience preferred
  • Preference given to college juniors and seniors and those seeking academic credit
